Does anybody know what kind or orchid this is and how often it should be watered?

Depends on drought and humidity of the plant.If there is a sense of wetness, no need to water. Winter is watered during the day and summer is watered at night.

You may put a finger into the plant material to see if it has get almost dry. If the sphagna is too tight to do so, you may take out the plastic cup inside to see if the roots get white and no bead on the wall inside the cup. If yes, please water the plants and make sure all the sphagna gets wet again.
